This morning I was blessed to speak with Onnie Kirk on the phone. My parents and I had visited my brother in Nashville the weekend of the 17th and 18th of September. I did some work with my friend Andrew that weekend as well. Sunday morning, the 19th, we met Mr. Kirk for breakfast. It was a wonderful time of fellowship, breaking bread and prayer. I felt the same peace and assurance that morning, as Onnie prayed with us, as I did on the phone 2 weeks later. Mr. Kirk leads a ministry in Nashville called the Family Foundation Fund. The heart of this ministry has scriptural basis in James 1:27, "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress," and Psalm 68:5, "A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling." Mr. Kirk asked me that I begin to prayerfully seek God in searching out if it is His divine will for me to move to Nashville in the coming months and begin to work with the boys. The sense of passion and simultaneous calm that followed were quite powerful and I agreed with him that I would seek confirmation from our heavenly Father. The following posts explore the exciting events that unraveled over the next days.
